What began in a tent near a prominent boat dealer’s business on Lake Union in 1947 has come a long way. Back then, many boats had to be placed outside the tent. Plenty of Chris Crafts, Fairliners from Tacoma and boats from Eastern builders were exhibited then.
After shifting several locations in and around Seattle like the Seattle Center, Kingdome, this year its on the Shilshole Bay Marina.
If you want to be on time for the Seattle Boat Show, the timings are given below...

Sunday: 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
Booking tickets is easy if you do it online...rates are given ...Adults $9.00...Youth $4.50 (ages 17-11) and children below 10 can enjoy it all for free.
Kids can have lotsa fun with their family; theirs lot of entertainment, food and a beer garden. This makes the Seattle Boat Show not just a exhibition for boats but a major entertainment event for Seattlians and tourists to enjoy.

Seattle's historic hotel closing!
Once the center of Seattle's downtown entertainment scene, the Cloud Room, a lounge and restaurant will be closed as the historic Camlin Hotel is converted into lodging for a vacation club. Seattle will lose this hotel by August.
Trendwest Resorts of Redmond announced Wednesday it is buying the once-elegant hotel from Camlin LLC for an undisclosed price and plans to spend $7.5 million on a one-year overhaul that includes the creation of 100 suites.
After months of rumors about the 76-year-old hotel's future, some employees were upset about learning of the deal in a news release. Trendwest officials were not available to comment on the future of about 85 affected workers.
Martin Ross's gig will end after entertaining at The Cloud Room for the last 14 years. He has played piano for the likes of Bo Derek, Drew Barrymore and countless Seattle-ites.
A tragedy for the piano bar connoisseurs of Seattle!
Lets take a Seattle Trip!
Seattle, the Myriad city is a fabulous place to enjoy a vacation with plenty of places to see - Space Needle, Seattle Art Museum, San Juan Island, Pacific Science Center, Seattle Aquarium, Museum of Flight, Woodland Park Zoo, Burke Museum and much much more...
Tomorrow, we can delve into where it all began...the history of Seattle! That should be interesting!
Seattle History in the making!
Every place has a history and with its Indian origins, Seattle history dates back to November 13 1851, when the first white settlers came. Supposedly, Seattle originates from the Red Indian name "sealth". The first settlers, the Denny Party made their way to Portland to an area in Seattle now called Alki Point. They moved to the eastern Elliot Bay. On May 23 1853 the town of Seattle became official.
At that time, around 500 Duwamish Indians lived around Elliott Bay, and hundreds more in villages from Shilshole Bay to present-day Renton. The schooner Exact dropped anchor off Alki Beach in present-day West Seattle that began to be recognised as a city for future generations to live in.
Before the 1900s there were very few incidents that happened... the Seattle's Great Fire in 1889 caused great havoc while burning down most part of 29 square city blocks of wooden buildings and about 10 brick buildings, including practically the entire business district, all but four of the city’s wharves, and its railroad terminals. Luckily no one was killed...
More on Seattle history in the late 19th century ...tomorrow!
Seattle -- more than century of adventure!
With the new railroads and the Alaskan goldrush, Seattle became a prospectors haunt with nearly 10,000 Seattle men and boys leaving for Klondikes. Local entrepreneurship increased with people selling prospectors necessities like woolen blankets, dried eggs and collapsible boats.
In July 1898, five men from the Lippy family docked in Seattle with sacks of gold valued at nearly $250,000, a fabulous sum for the day.
By the 1940s Seattle was a florishing place with industry and prosperity. The Second World War brought its own plight on Seattle. On April 21, 1942 japanese americans were ordered to evacuate Seattle. Almost 12000 Japanese immigrants to America were held in inland 'relocation' sites during most part of the war.
Tradedy struck even after the war had ended with an earthquake in 1949 with a magnitude of 7.1 on the richter scale that set Seattle back by many years. Seattle had to repair the damage caused by those 20 seconds for many years after the incident.
By 1950 Seattle population was almost 470,000. Seattle was now a fine center of art, music, culture, business and industry. On April 21, Northgate Mall, one of the earliest suburban shopping malls in the United States, opened to much fanfare.
1962 was a great year for Seattle with the World's Fair opening. It has left a truly eternal legacy that have made Seattle world famous- Space Needle, Monorail and many of Seattle Center's buildings.
Seattle Festivals next...
Instead of going back in time, today we shall feature Seattle's most famous festivals and events that have made it so famous.
